Random thoughts
I know not alot of people read this blog... but I just wanted to express something thats on my mind. I love to write music and I write music that makes me happy. I don't write it to impress people I write it to impress myself. I hate to play covers because its not mine. If I play covers its for the soul purpose of wanting to be liked which I hate. I dont like artist that write music to just make a bunch of money. They have not heart no soul. I believe that there is TOO much heartlessness in alot of popular music. It makes me sick. I cant stand to listen to it. But I do like to dance so I'll ignore these thoughts haha. Anyways someone told me I should play shorter catchier songs to ger more attention. I say HELL NO! I'm writing these songs for myself. I do want people to love it and appreciate it but I WILL NOT SELL out. I hope you see why I like a lot of the music I post here. take your heart, your mind, your soul to the extent. Thanks.

Keaton Henson
Keaton Henson's music is so emotional. He draws you right into his songs with his whispering voice and smooth reverb on his guitar. I could just chill listening to this all day.

The Honey Trees
Ok so this video isn't really that new but Its a good one that I think needs to be shared. Put simply this song is cute.
Porcelain Raft
Porcelain Raft just released a new album entitled "Strange Weekend" and it is amazing. The best way to describe this band is a quote from KEXF a Seattle radio station, “[Porcelain Raft is] psych-tinged electro-pop, with a woozy, reverb-drenched sound combining trippy synth textures, glitchy beats, shoegazerish electric guitars and strummed acoustics with Remiddi’s high, layered vocals and dreamy pop melodies.”
Indie Rock Cafe predicts that Porcelain Raft is the artist to watch of 2012. I expect big things their music is so chill and I really enjoyed this music video. My favorite song from the album is "put me to sleep" but its hard to choose a favorite. I hope you enjoy!

Buried Beds
Small Stories. from Nate Johnson on Vimeo.
Another awesome indie band coming out of philly. The video is long its basically their newest album "Small Stories" with cool vids and such thrown in. Enjoy.
Dr. Dog
The best way to explain this song is by the band themselves so below is a quote. The band is going to release a new album on Feb, 7 and they have a video out from that album already its called "that old black hole" I really like that music video but I'll let you look it up... anyways the lead singer reminds me of Cage the Elephant but sung to a different style. Enjoy.
-“This one apartment I was living in, I felt like I was stuck in the insane heart of West Philly,” says McMicken. “It’s a weird, insular little community, and there’s a lot going on and a lot of crazy, flamboyant characters and a lot of porch life and coffee shops. But for me, it was kind of overwhelming, and I had overextended myself into the lives of a lot of wacky people, because those are the type of people that I gravitate towards the most. But sometimes I bite off more than I can chew and get taken advantage of. I was exhausted with my neighborhood and I let it into me a little too much. That night, I wrote “Shadow People,” which is a full-on West Philly diary. Philly has been such a big part of our lives, and I feel like on this record it finally took over and made its way into our music. There’s a line that says, ‘I stole a bike from the Second Mile and saw a band play in the basement.’ The Second Mile is this thrift around the corner from my house, and there’s so many basement shows in West Philly, like noisy, artsy bands.” .I wanted to write something about the people and places around me. -

Meet Air Review a Dallas quintet. They played some music for the olympics a while back and I think will gain some major popularity this year. America's son has become my theme song when Im on the bus. Its one of those songs thats fun just to listen to while your staring out the window watching the scenery pass. What I like most about this song is that every instrument has a simple part that comes to form a beautiful sound. I especially love the snapping part with the ooos. Good Stuff.
Low Roar
Say hello to Low Roar... Maybe on later post I will give more information but im a lil to lazy right now. I believe he is from Iceland but im not sure... His songs are soft and sultry... I love the combo of echo and reverb on the vocals... I dont know if he'll blow up and get real big but his music is beautiful.
